Liverpool Spirit Appeal launched to support victims of Water Street incident
A new emergency fund, the Liverpool Spirit Appeal, has been launched to support those injured in the tragic incident at the Liverpool FC victory parade on Monday 26 May.
Led by the Community Foundation for Merseyside (CFM) in partnership with Liverpool City Council and Liverpool Charity and Voluntary Services (LCVS), the appeal will provide vital support to those identified by emergency services as needing hospital or psychological care.
At least 65 people, including four children, were injured when a car drove into crowds on Water Street. As of Tuesday morning, 11 people remain in hospital.
Two of CFM’s long-standing supporters, Jamie Carragher’s 23 Foundation and the Blue Sky Foundation, have each pledged £10,000 to kickstart the fund.
The VS6 Partnership is shocked and saddened by the awful incident that took place. We stand in solidarity with our partners and VCFSE groups across the Liverpool City Region, especially our VS6 partners LCVS and CFM, who have been working closely with public sector colleagues to help coordinate the sector’s response in Liverpool.
